In March 2017, Dr. Timothy Lipman, Co-Director of the UC Berkeley Transportation Sustainability Research Center, is teaching a new online training course intended to introduce practitioners to the fundamentals of lower-carbon vehicle and fuel/energy systems--low-carbon solutions for a growing world. Dr. Lipman also serves as Director of the Northern California Center for Alternative Transportation Fuels and Advanced Vehicle Technologies (NorthCAT).

Dr. Timothy Lipman, Co-Director of the UC Berkeley Transportation Sustainability Research Center, is teaching a new online training course intended to introduce practitioners to the fundamentals of lower-carbon vehicle and fuel/energy systems--low-carbon solutions for a growing world. Attendees will gain a better understanding of: 1) the latest clean fuel vehicle and fuel system technologies; 2) major components and aspects of energy/environmental transportation problems; 3) recent transportation and energy/environmental policy and planning; and 4) how to apply energy principles to transportation vehicle/fuel supply problems and analysis. Topics include:

  • Key technical principles that apply to Alternative Fuel Vehicle systems
  • Emerging light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle technologies
  • Fuel production supply-chain pathways and fuel-cycle emissions analysis
  • Economic and policy aspects of the introduction of advanced vehicle and energy technologies
