Before it can become a mainstream fuel...
Somebody has to figure out how to get all that hydrogen into all those fuel-cell vehicles safely, quickly and economically. In other words, an entire fueling infrastructure has to be set up. The Linde Group, a member of the California Fuel Cell Partnership, is on the case.
Linde has been pioneering the deployment of hydrogen as an industrial gas for more than 100 years. Extending its experience to hydrogen fueling is a natural step.
Every day, customers in 15 countries use Linde’s 80 hydrogen fueling stations. This includes stations in Germany for fuel cell vehicles, in California for transit buses and in South Carolina and Ohio for forklifts. Linde North America recently celebrated 250,000 safe and successful fillings of hydrogen-powered vehicles.
BMW’s South Carolina plant uses Linde’s proprietary Ionic Compression system that includes six indoor dispenser stations for its PlugPower fuel cell forklifts. In only 20 months of operation, the station has delivered more than 100,000 safe fillings. BMW is planning to significantly expand its fueling operations with Linde, as have other customers, including Walmart.
