We believe that hydrogen holds great potential as a clean, renewable fuel. Our goal is to bring a Fuel Cell-Hybrid Vehicle (FCHV) to market by 2015. To get there, Toyota researchers are continuing to develop and test FCHVs powered by hydrogen fuel cells. In mid-2008, the U.S. Department of Energy, Savannah River National Laboratory and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory approached Toyota to participate in a collaborative evaluation of the real-world Toyota Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle - Advanced (FCHV-adv). The FCHV-adv achieved an estimated range of 431 miles on a single fill of compressed hydrogen gas, and an average fuel economy of 68.3 miles/kg kilogram(approximate mpg equivalent).
