Job Title: Hydrogen Storage Systems Chief Engineer

Job Description: The Hydrogen Storage System (HSS) Application Chief Engineer is responsible for the hydrogen storage system development team developing hydrogen pressure vessels that will accelerate zero emission vehicles clean transportation revolution. He/She ensures customized system development for Automotive OEM and is responsible for technical work package in Acquisition phase.

This role will be responsible for leading a team through the design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacturing scale-up of the initial and subsequent iterations of this new product. In this position you will lead a team of engineers ensuring that they meet project deliverables on time and on budget. You, and your team, will interface directly with the customer and manufacturing partners.

What You Will Do:

  • Reports to the ZEV NAO Director.
  • Build & manage a team of program development leaders & design leader to develop tailored HSS for NAO automotive OEM through Faurecia Program Management System (PMS).
  • Responsible to manage technical work-package in RFI & RFQ phase.
  • Ensure that system architecture & design are fulfilling generics requirements and guidelines with a strong link with Generics Engineering Chief Engineer to insure robustness and cost of the solution.
  • Ensure that system architecture & design are fulfilling industrial constraints with a strong link with Manufacturing Engineering Chief Engineer to assess industrial feasibility.
  • Insure internal reporting of project progress through weekly meeting & gate review.
  • Participate to Customer tech days.
  • Main contributor is building customer intimacy in order to leverage FCM credibility in HSS business.
  • Manage the work of a growing team of engineers to ensure they meet agreed-upon deliverables for projects with internal as well as external stakeholders
  • Interface with customers and internal management to explain design choices and development priorities.
  • Follow the automotive advanced product quality planning (APQP) framework including failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and the production part approval process (PPAP)
  • Understand and advise on all aspects of ongoing technical development, including design, analysis, and manufacturing of composite, metal, and thermoplastic parts
  • Plan for overall project and component design timing.
  • Mentor junior team members in sound engineering practice.
  • Set priorities for technical development based on a strategic assessment of risks versus rewards.
  • Make key technical decisions by synthesizing information from a wide variety of sources.
  • Comply with all applicable company policies and procedures (i.e. Quality System Procedures)

What You Will Bring to the Company:

  • Bachelor’s degree in B.S. in mechanical/civil/aerospace engineering
  • Master degree or PhD (Material, Mechanical) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience in automotive
  • Strong know-how in product & process development in Automotive
  • Deep understanding in H2 either on H2 system development (HSS, filling station or Fuel cell) or on H2 component development (Tank, Auxiliaries, etc.)
  • Synthetic and organized mindset
  • Clearly customer oriented: ability to manage a customer and to build customer intimacy
  • Deep understanding of the fundamentals of solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and materials
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design including 2D drawing, 3D CAD, GD&T, geometric and statistical stack-ups and manufacturing processes
  • Working proficiency in French & German is a plus
