At Citi, we are proud to be one of the early signatories to the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, which was established as part of the new industrial strategy for Europe in March 2020. The Alliance is part of Europe’s efforts to accelerate the decarbonisation of industry and maintain industrial leadership. According to European Commission, the Alliance aims at an ambitious deployment of hydrogen technologies by 2030, bringing together renewable and low-carbon hydrogen production, demand in industry, mobility and other sectors, and hydrogen transmission and distribution. With the return of the United States to the Paris Agreement, and the increasing levels of discussions leading up to the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) scheduled in Glasgow, Scotland, in November, the attention and interest level on decarbonisation and hydrogen technologies will ever be higher this year. In Asia Pacific, China is set to achieve her carbon neutrality by 2060 and more recently both Japan and South Korea pledged to be carbon neutral by 2050.
In this Pan-Asia ESG Conference (virtual) with focus on hydrogen economy, Citi will invite industry and policy experts, scholars, and corporate representatives not only from Asia Pacific region, but also from Europe and United States who will share their views on the global, regional, and local policies, initiatives, and technological developments towards achieving carbon neutrality.
